About me
My passion for working with children began when I started coaching hockey to a local team when I lived in Nottingham. I quickly became interested in how children develop and learn and began to work as a play-worker on summer camps for children with special educational needs. I trained at Sheffield Hallam University completing a degree in English and Education and then followed the path into teaching through completing a PGCE. For the past 6 years I have worked across Sheffield as a Teacher in mainstream primary settings, working with Nursery, Foundation and Year 1 children. Since the start of 2018 I have been volunteering at Kenwood Nature Nursery and have been inspired by their use of the outdoors, and seen first-hand the benefits of this approach. I am very excited to start a new challenge and learn new strategies to develop my current set of skills when working with children. When not at work I am passionate about the outdoors taking every opportunity I can to get outside either camping, walking, climbing or canoeing.
