About me
I enjoy caring for children and being in nature, so this is a dream job for me. Growing up I went to Woodcraft Folk and Scouts and I did a lot of orienteering which I still do today. These experiences led me to really enjoy and appreciate nature. During my 2nd-year summer break at uni, I worked in an American Summer Camp in the Catskill mountains. This was a big influence on my career choice as it made me realise I loved looking after children in nature. I then decided to retrain in childcare because my strengths are in the play and caring side of education. I worked in ‘mainstream’ nurseries which I enjoyed but I was frustrated about the limited outdoor time. Then I heard about Middlewood Nature Nursery opening in 2014 worked there until we opened our new nursery Kenwood Nature Nursery in 2017. I love working here and I feel lucky to do a job I enjoy. As for hobbies I am a road and fell runner and I have done 6 marathons. I do orienteering races and mountain marathons too. I have been in a 6 a side football team for 10 years now and I enjoy road biking too.
