About me

I have worked in child care for over 11 years with children aged 0- 4 years in a conventional indoor nursery, but loved to get them outdoors when ever possible.

I first became aware of forest school nurseries when my sister in law started to do her forest school training. The idea of children being mostly outside learning from nature and the environment sounded fantastic to me. When my own children were young, along with their cousins.  we would often go for walks to either the woods or local park, packed up with a picnic and plenty of spare clothes. My son and daughter now reminisce of falling into muddy puddles or paddling in the stream, and having to come home wearing clothes that were often too big or small for them.

I now enjoy walks outside of work with my little pooch willow, often on the trans Pennine trail near where I live, but my favourite place to walk is langset. The changes of the seasons there is beautiful to see, the view from the top across the water is amazing.

My career working with children has been very enlightening, watching them grow from babies in little people is so rewarding I can’t see myself ever doing any other job .
